What’s Happening at the Yahweh Center
Listen to Carla talk about what is going on at the Yahweh Center with Craig Thomas and Jim Stephens on Life in the Morning at 90.5 FM.
The Yahweh Center Children’s Village has served abused, neglected, and at-risk children from across the state since 1988. We have done so for all these years because God first placed it upon the heart of our Founder and Executive Director, Carla Roberts, and then the heart of the community to create a place where faith-based healing could happen for children in the state mental health system. We have an exceptional team from our administrative, nursing, and direct care staff at the Yahweh Center that shares the common vision that through prayer and the power of God, children can be healed.
Our expenses and liabilities have substantially multiplied as state and federal regulations have dramatically increased in recent years. This has made operating costs increasingly burdensome. These regulations have resulted in growing expenditures without the necessary reimbursement for the professional services we provide. Our expenses have become so great that they are weighing us down past the point where we can financially operate. Therefore, we are faced with the reality, like many other similar organizations, that we cannot continue to fiscally operate in such an environment.
After pursing legal advice, the Yahweh Center was advised to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. We did this in our hope to restructure our organization. Part of our restructuring has been a painful but necessary reduction in staff on advice of our legal team and board of advisors to be in compliance with bankruptcy law. This means that we have to close our PRTF programs in a short time frame.
We informed our employees on August the 18th so that they would have foreknowledge of what is going to happen as things begin to move quickly. We have not released a public statement until now because we have been privately contacting all of the clients legal guardians and arranging the best outcome for these precious children before informing invested and/or interested parties. It has recently been reported that the Yahweh Center is going to simply close by August 31st as we go through Chapter 11. This is inaccurate reporting.
Our hope is to keep our campus open as we transition our property with a minimal team, including volunteers, as we prepare our ministry to be sold. Our hope is that many of our valuable employees will be hired by the organization that God brings to purchase our ministry. Please pray with us that this is God’s plan. Pray for our team to be sustained during this trying transition. We are thankful for the continual support of this community as the Yahweh Center looks expectantly to the Lord. Our ministry, as it is currently, is finishing our race but we want to finish joyfully and to God’s glory.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.- 2 Corinthians 9:8
We have been dedicated to helping children in our community to find healing in the name of Jesus. We could not have done this without the power of God and our terrific community that has supported us since 1988. We continue to be thankful for God and for those that have helped us to heal the hurt. We respectfully request if any part of this update is used that it be used in its entirety.
